Day In the Life Of ...

6:30 am
If I have a scene first thing, then I have to be up at 6:30 am. It's tough because I'm definitely not a morning person! But luckily my flat is only 10 minutes away from the studios so its easy for me to walk there.

7:30 am
At work, the first thing I do is go into costume and get changed. Then I'll go along to make-up. They allow me 45 minutes but I only take 15. That gives me time if I want to get a bit of breakfast or a cup of tea or something. Lastly, before I go on set, I'll run over my lines with whoever I'm in a scene with next.

8:00 am
I'm on set for the rest of the day but, unless I have a really big storyline, it's likely that I'll get a few gaps. I was fairly quiet for a while and had quite a lot of time off but I got busy again for the plot when Martin Hancock - who played Spider - was leaving the show.

1:00 pm
We get about an hour's break for lunch and I tend to go back to my flat for food. I might also get a couple of hours off in the afternoon, in which case I'll pop into town and do a bit of shopping.

2:00 pm
Usually I'll come back to the studios and work until about 7.00pm. If I do get a break in the afternoon, I'll generally spend it with whoever's in. I used to see Martin a lot - he's one of my best mates along with Jane Danson (Leanne). We'd just sit in the green room and watch a bit of telly or run over our lines, and gossip like mad. We'd drink lots and lots of horrible machine coffee and all get really wired because we'd had too much caffeine.

Sometimes I'll cat-nap as well, dropping off for about 15 minutes at a time.

7:00 pm
After work, whoever's left out of the cast might go for a quick drink in the Granada pub for an hour or so. Then I'll head back home, probably getting back around 8.30pm.

8:30 pm
At the end of the day, I actually have loads of energy. I might go to work really tired but when I get home, I'll be buzzing! I think its because I feel good when I've worked really hard.
At home, I learn my lines which doesn't take me too long. I'm quite lucky as I've got a bit of a photographic memory and its routine now. It doesn't mean that I can learn them in 10 minutes though!

It depends on how busy I am, but I try to make an effort to cook. I'm certainly no great chef, though, and usually cook simple stuff like pasta. I enjoy eating out and can be a bit of a take-away queen.

Sometimes a couple of friends come round in the evening and we might pop to the pub. Occasionally, I'll go out at night if I'm not working the next day ... There are times when I'll have a Wednesday or Thursday off.

2:00 am
I usually go to bed after two in the morning but, saying that, if I've got a really heavy week of 7.30am starts, then my body clock gets into a routine where I'll probably turn in around midnight.

I don't need much sleep and can manage a few days on four hours a night. But at weekends I get to the point where I need to catch up.

Weekends
I go out on Friday or Saturday night if I'm not in mega-early on Sunday. I'm quite lucky because they generally film all the factory stuff on a Sunday, and obviously I'm not in that. So I've had a few Sundays off and quite a lot of other free time, too. It tends to be that you're either madly busy or just not doing much at all!
